thanks for sharing this, rats... some decent article to read, finally...

Evolution vs. creation/ID/etc are easy to win, IF you can survive straw man arguments, and have this kind of info. I deal with it way too much. Also, be prepared for stupid questions such as "Why did the ancestors of humans lost their hair while other animals didn't?" (I still need an answer for that one, actually.)

The thing is you don't need that to prove evolution. If we were to find life in other planets, galaxies, possibly even universes, evolution would still exist. Evolution leading to hair loss for humans, maybe not so much. evolution is the "algorithm" or "function" and the inputs for the function/algorithm can change leading to different results.

Oh, I know. I was just wondering, what was the point for us to lose the hair?

Our species evolved on the hot Africa and we're still known to overheat easily, can you imagine how badly we'd fair against heat if we had retained fur?

That's what I said. I got a response about "What about the other animals with fur?"

I'm slightly curious as to where an earth the debate has degenerated into such....well...words can't describe it...

I always thought it had something to do with making it easier to absorb vitamin D (or whichever one you get from sunlight)

How did you get into this sort of thing with your mother? Sorry to pry, but it doesn't seem like the typical thing you end up talking to your parents about...

They don't overheat as absurdly as we do.
Then, there's also Ratt's post.

We were jungle animals that got adapted to life in plains, so we had to change the jungle system to be usable for savannahs, and we are not plainly adapted for the savannah. Also, the change is very recent, and our brains grew too fast to still be the ape of the savannah.
